From 10 – 12 March 2026 the QTDI took part in an important regional event organized by „Farmahem Skopje“ within the scope of the project „Landscape Fire Management in the Western Balkans“, funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation SDC“.
QTDI was represented at the event by Prof. Afete Musliu, Prof. Milan V., and the QTDI Director, Damir Gashi. Their participation contributed to a regional dialogue on fire prevention, community resilience, stakeholder cooperation, and sustainable landscape management, which presented the activities implemented so far, as part of the QTDI project in two (2) municipalities in Kosovo. The event brought together organisations from across the Western Balkans to develop a framework for sharing knowledge, experience, and approaches to addressing the growing threat of wildfire in landscapes. Presentations, working group meetings and discussion sessions were used by participants to demonstrate how their institutions and projects have been able to address fire risk, community readiness, environmental conservation and collaboration among sectors.
The events focus was on the use of participatory methods and how they can be used for better stakeholder engagement and building networks among professionals in this field. In addition to sessions such as the presentation of the “OPERA” (a participatory approach), the “World Cafe Method”, and group-based knowledge sharing, where the participants were given the opportunity to reflect on the outcomes of their respective projects and also on the value of inter-institutional collaboration between community groups, experts, and institutions, but it also emphasized the QTDI’s committment to support this type of projects related to environmental management, environmental resilience, knowledge sharing and cooperation on practical matters affecting communities throughout the Western Balkans region.
