On 21 January 2026, the Qendra per Transferimin e Dijes dhe Inovacionit hosted the second stakeholder meeting within the Landscape Fire Management – Western Balkans (LFMWB) project. The meeting took place in the Municipality of Kamenica.

The event brought together representatives from the Municipality of Kamenica and Partes, as well as participants from key local sectors, including firefighters, fishermen, hunters, high school representatives, and students. The meeting continued to strengthen coordination among local stakeholders and provided space for practical learning and collaboration.

The meeting began with welcome remarks and a presentation by Ms. Afete Shala Musliu, the work package coordinator, who focused on managing and monitoring risks related to fires.

A key part of the meeting was dedicated to practical work on data and tools for Disaster Risk Management, presented by Ms. Gresa Neziri. During this session, participants actively worked together using a GIS-based application, learning how to report and map fire incidents and how municipal offices can monitor them in real time. The practical exercise also included identifying and visualizing key elements such as hydrants and fire locations, supporting better coordination and response planning.

The agenda continued with a technical and practical session by Mr. Arian Mavriqi, focusing on drone parts, calibrations, and a classroom demonstration. Participants learned about different drone types, their role in field operations, and how drones can support monitoring, assessment, and response in landscape fire management. In addition, the participants went to the Fire Brigade of Kamenica, where participants had the opportunity to engage directly with the firefighters who provided a rapid intervention demonstration and showcased their operational work and response procedures. This live demonstration offered valuable insight into real-life emergency response and the importance of preparedness and coordination.

* This initiative is implemented by the Centre for Knowledge Transfer and Innovation (QTDI) within the framework of the Landscape Fire Management in the Western Balkans, which is a project financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation – SDC and coordinated by Farmahem from Skopje, North Macedonia, with backstopping support from Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation from Switzerland.
